We are thrilled to confirm that Alexander Skarsgård, the 46-year-old Succession star, is officially a father! Though rumors had been swirling for months about the birth of his child, Alexander confirmed the good news during the Season 4 premiere of the hit HBO show in New York on March 20, 2022. When Entertainment Tonight offered congratulations to the new dad, he simply replied, “Thank you very much.”
While Alexander was spotted with his new baby in November of 2022 and was seen holding the little one swathed in blankets, he hadn’t yet spoken about becoming a dad before now. However, at the premiere, he proudly showed off a stuffed animal and said, “I got this on the red carpet. Thank you, thank you.”
Alexander’s partner, Swedish actress Tuva, whom he had been seen with pushing a stroller in November, was assumed to be the baby’s mother. Tuva is already a mother to daughter Ella, from a previous relationship.
Interestingly, Alexander himself had predicted that he would have a large family, since his father, legendary actor Stellan Skarsgård, had eight children. In a 2013 interview with Chelsea Handler, Alexander said, “My dad had kids in the ’70s, the ’80s, the ’90s, the 2000s and the 2010s. Six with mom [actress My Skarsgård] and two with his new wife [Megan Everett].” Alexander then joked that he needed to “get cracking” if he wanted to beat his dad’s record.
However, Alexander also emphasized that starting a family was something that required romance and a deep connection, not just a desire to have children. “I’m more romantic than that,” he told The London Times in 2018. “I have friends who’ve done that, and they’re not happy, and then they go through horrible divorces.”
