UP Fighting Maroons Secures Services of Fil-American Sean Alter
The University of the Philippines (UP) men’s basketball team continues to make waves in the UAAP off-season, as Fil-American Sean Alter joins the Fighting Maroons for the Season 86. Alter made his intent to play for UP official during his 2023 Smart-National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) National Finals stint with FilNation-Select.
Alter, standing at 6-foot-8, is a valuable addition to UP’s already stacked frontline, led by UAAP MVP Malick Diouf. Bo Perasol, the UP basketball program director, believes that Alter’s work ethic and desire to win will only boost the team’s chances of success.
Perasol emphasized that Alter’s commitment to UP is a result of fruitful discussions between Sean, his family, coaching staff, UPMBT management team, and alumni involved in the program. There is a shared belief among them, and they are humbled and proud that Sean will be part of a team that upholds the values of their university.
UP failed to retain the UAAP crown last season after losing to Ateneo in the finals. But Perasol remains optimistic that with Sean’s arrival, UP’s chances of winning will increase. The team’s success is tied to the proper development of its players, and Coach Gold Monteverde’s commitment is to focus on the growth and training of the Maroon rookies.
Alter’s big move to UP also comes with the commitment of La Salle Greenhills standouts Luis Pablo, Seven Gagate, and Josh Coronel to play for the Fighting Maroons. The team is gearing up for a stronger performance in the upcoming UAAP Season 86, as they aim to reclaim the championship title.
UP’s acquisition of Alter shows their relentless pursuit of bringing in the best players to represent their institution. With one of the league’s most talented big men in their roster, the Fighting Maroons have a lot to look forward to, and their fans can only hope for the team’s continued success.#UAAP #FilAm #big #man #Sean #Alter #joins
