Paris in chaos over Macron’s pension changes.

Paris is facing its second consecutive night of violent protests against President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reforms, with French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin reporting 310 arrests overnight. Rioters clashed with police during demonstrations on Friday night, resulting in officers deploying a water cannon to clear crowds from the Place de Concorde. Opponents of the change have disrupted rubbish collection and university campuses, while several cars were set ablaze in Paris and other French cities. The official retirement age for France is 62, which is among the lowest in European countries. Macron has made the proposed pension changes the priority of his second term, arguing that reform is necessary for the French economy to remain competitive and to prevent the pension system from falling into deficit. The trade unions that had organized strikes and marches against a higher retirement age said more rallies and protest marches would take place in the days ahead.#Paris #gripped #night #violence #Macrons #pension #reforms
