“Real ways couples handle (or hide) their money”

Our exclusive research by investment manager Investec Wealth & Investment reveals that as many as one in five people in a couple in the UK have not disclosed the full extent of their assets or debts to their partner. And almost one in seven have failed to reveal over £50,000 to their significant other. Some people do this to maintain their financial independence, while others simply believe their partners are uninterested. However, transparency typically thrives among young couples. Two in five couples were open and honest from the beginning of their relationship, while a quarter were within the first year.
